Super Shark, Bacon Cures All, & Tetris the Movie

Okay, you had me at a shark that kills bimbos on land.  You had me at at shark that takes out jets.  You had me at a shark that's bullet proof.

But the walking tank...

The walking tank that kicks the shark in the face!  Oscar gold.

Turkey Links and Mo' Turkey Links

As we begin out blogcast day, I'm reminded that I haven't posted in a long effin' time.  So today, will be filled with Turkey Links...

Comic Fiction Photography

First up, a more recent photo of Meghan and a cropped close up.

And a shot of Paige, who also rocks the current header and Facebook cover.

Frosted Flakes Run Red and Turkey Links

So yeah, there's this 2011 Frosted Flakes commercial, featuring Tony the Tiger playing a little baseball with a father and his son.

Nothing out of the ordinary right?  WRONG!

When the kid and his pop go home to partake in some delicious, flattened, sugar coated corn perfection, Tony disappears.

And doesn't return until they're done eating.  Where the hell did Tony, the freaking TIGER, go?  Check this out...

As the humans walk off, the tiger hangs back.  With a bat on his shoulder.  Then...

A bat free, Tony the tiger comes waltzing in the crib.  All I'm saying is that 'kercheif is probably red for a reason.  And with that horror nugget stuck in head, here's some mo' turkey to digest.

Tuesday Morning Turkey Links

Back to the Future fans! Here's a terrific set of behind the scenes photos.

Awesome animated short "SWELTER," by Jacob Streilien

Get ready to start paying fines for "TEXTING WHILE WALKING."

Apparently, "The Avengers" took all the money. All of it.

And lastly, some dip crashes their Lamborghini.  Why?  I guess they figured, why the hell not.

Movie Logic 101 Character Sketches

From the Movie Logic 101 art archives, is a sketch of Vamp Babe 1 (as she's listed in the original script).  This image was done by Marcio Takara.

I loved his style at the time and thought he did a great of capturing the blood sucking mistress.

McDonalds' McDisk and Turkey Links

As we begin our blogcast day, I wander to myself, who doesn't like the McDonalds' cheeseburger? I mean just the regular ol' cheeseburger.  It is a specific taste unto itself and you really have to have a Mickey D's cheeseburger, to quell that certain desire.  But let's be honest, it really should be called the McDisk, cause as separate parts it doesn't work.  Have you ever tried to add something to that thing?  The bread sticks to the meat, the sliver of pickle (two if you're lucky) comes loose and you've diluted the squirt of ketchup that was strategically placed in the furthest possible spot from the dry burger patty.  Also, doesn't it seem like the only cheese on that sum'betch, are the two corners that are poking out of the sides?

You know deep down (or you hope), that this thing is made up of distinct parts.  But really, these parts don't work unless put together in that "I don't give a crap" style and placed under a heat lamp to become one, gelatinous, whole.  McDonalds' is always looking to introduce or re-introduce something, The McDisk or the McDoorstep if you don't eat it within a certain amount of time, should be their next big ad push.

Here's some more stuff to digest...

Monday Morning Turkey Links

Animating the Principals: Movie Logic 101 Character Design

One of the many reasons Movie Logic 101 has not yet been released on DVD or streaming (and there are many which I'll get into later, maybe) is because there were animated sequences that I wanted to add after it's initial theater and festival showings in 2009.  With those scenes now being put in, I can get into the designs for cartooning the characters, starting with the three main characters.

From right to left, we got Jeb, Justin, and the Intern (Original photography by Joe Goeldel).  Since I was going to do the animated sequences at the time, I developed an animated look and feel for these three...

While I was fine with the designs overall, it wasn't exactly the feel I wanted.  I did some animation tests with these characters, but because it wasn't giving me the vibe I wanted, that was as far as I got.  I thought about varying my style, but ultimately decided to get some one else with the style I was looking for.

Greasy Coke and Turkey Links

As we begin our blogcast day, I want to let everyone know that I don't drink coffee in the morning, I drink Coke.  Not Pepsi, not Diet Coke or Coke Zero. Mofo-Freekin' Coke!  Most folk ask, "How can you drink that so early?"  I respond "Well, like your coffee... You beverage elitist.  It has caffeine and sugar and wakes me up.  Now go suck on a scone and get the hell out of my face."  I'm not happy in the morning.

Anyway...

There's an interesting phenomenon that happens when you order carbonated drink fair from let's say, McDowell's or The Burger Bishop first thing in the AM.  And, this is a warning more than anything.  I swear to Cleveland that morning soda has a layer of grease infused into it's high corn fructosey goodness.  It's like the oil from the burgers, fries and sundaes settle into the fountain dispenser over night and if you're the unfortunate sap to grab some Coca Cola at 7am, you get a Coke... with ice...  and Crisco.

They should just go ahead and market it.  You can have a Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, Coke Zero, or Coke Crisco.

And now some Thursday Morning Turkey Links...

Apparently you can get yourself encased in carbonite just like Han Solo and hang yourself on the wall just like Jabba the Hut did with Han Solo.

When one wonders the world, one often imitates scenes from movies and photographs them. Well, this guy does.

The fact the US hasn't tried to make feet table juggling an Olympic event is baffling to me...

And then there's this, 38 Badasses Drawn on a whiteboard shirt.  Why?  Cause why the hell not.

Sneak into Next Week

We'll be previewing many of Comic Fiction's projects in the coming months and here's a sneak peek image from the first project we'll get heavy into next week.

Until tomorrow, you ain't got to go home, but you can stay here.  You can stay here as long as you like actually.

Comic Fiction Photos EmBiggened

There's a monkey barrel full of photos used for Comic Fiction.  Whether for design layout, Comic Fiction Shop Dot Com, or pre-production test shots, a nice collection of pics has been building.  Much of the time, these photos get cropped or reduced down to accommodate the composition of a page or the design they're used in.  Like the header pic for this blog...

Oh wow, there's a body attached to that head!  And with that, mo pics uncut and embiggened...

Mr. T Fashion Stylist and Turkey Links

As we begin our blogcast day, or this hump day, I am reminded of the Mr. T's PSA video "Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool."  In it, T goes on to give kids advice on a myriad of topics, one of which happens to be fashion as shown by the vid below...

This is just one of many highlights in this incredible time capsule of "I did what?"  New Edition makes an appearance with a song about peer pressure, on a pier...

But, for most folk, the topper to this nostalgia biscuit is "Treat Your Mother Right."  And with Mother's Day coming up, we gotta roll that out...

And now some Wednesday Morning Turkey Links...

If the Avengers were Dinosaurs, would they still have made all that fluckin' money at the box office?

Behind the scenes Star Wars photos prove C3P0 is all man baby!

If these are supposed to be pics of Barbie and Ken in real life, where's the meth lab playset?

A list of "People Who Need to Shut the Fuck Up!" It should be longer, so I expect a part 2... thru 100.

And, of course, Cats in Space.  Cause, why the hell not...

NEW - Dark Knight Rises Trailer

With The Avengers opening this week, most comic fans and movie goers are focused on the exploits of Marvel's super hero team coming to the big screen.  But, DC won't let you forget there's another comic book character hitting the screens this summer.
